ColorBond® Fencing is truly an iconic Australian fence that has been used in many backyards. When it comes to choosing a fence, it’s not just how great the fence looks that matters, but also how well it does the job, and how much time and effort it takes to ensure it stays up to the task. Each ColorBond® steel colour has been inspired by Australia’s own magnificent backyard. So whether you want colours that are subtle or bold, light or dark, cool or warm, you’ll find colours that let you blend the natural charm of your garden with your home. ColorBond® steel fencing comes in a wide range of panel styles and designs and with its sleek lines, ColorBond® steel looks great on both sides of the fence. When installed correctly, it won’t have any vertical gaps, visible footholds or loose palings. You can also choose the fence or gate design you want and personalise it by adding lattice, slats and post caps.

ColorBond® steel is a great choice for the environment as its 100% recyclable material and is a fantastic alternative fence from our ModularWalls™ and our Timber Paling Fences. Our ColorBond® fences can be complemented with one of our customised automated gates.

A ColorBond® steel fence won’t rot, it won’t be eaten by termites, it is non-combustible and resists the progress of a fire. It is also easy to maintain, so once it’s installed, there’s no need to be spending your time painting, oiling or replacing palings. So, choose a fence made from ColorBond® steel; it can enhance the privacy and security of your home for years to come.

Simple maintenance of ColorBond® steel by regular washing with clean, fresh water will not only prolong its life but also maintain its attractiveness for longer periods thus protecting your asset. Ensure the fence is hosed down at least every six months and more frequently in coastal areas where marine salt spray is prevalent, and in areas where high levels of industrial fallout occur. It is also important to ensure that the posts, bottom rail, and panels are always free of debris, such as soil and mulch against ColorBond® steel products. If cared for in this way, your ColorBond® steel fence should assist with the prolonging of the life of your fence.

Immediately after your fence and gate are installed, check that there are no metal chips or filings remaining on the paintwork. You can remove them by hosing and gently wiping with a soft cloth. Check that your fence posts have been set in concrete, not directly into the earth. If your fence gets splashed with pool water, always hose it down before the pool water dries. BlueScope does not warrant against harmful chemicals, and this includes water for swimming pools, which is corrosive. Other materials you should keep off your fence include lead, copper, monel metal, bare steel, stainless steel, timber, and concrete. Minor scratches in your paintwork won’t affect the performance of your fence. Don’t touch-up minor damage with paint because colours are unlikely to match over time. Do not use your fence as a retaining wall as it is not designed for this purpose.

Below is a checklist of considerations you may need to address. Each situation will vary so you must be vigilant and ensure that you have consulted with an experienced Fencing Company, such as Dog Gone Fencing, to assist you with your individual needs.

  • Use our Fence Plan to accurately design and order the materials you require.

  • Discuss your needs with one of our qualified staff to place an order and ensure your materials will arrive in time for your project.

  • If your new fence is a boundary fence that you share with a neighbour, ensure that you have informed them of your intentions. You can use our “Good Neighbour Policy” as a guide to help you.

  • Consult with a surveyor if your boundary lines are in any way unclear. Just because there is an existing fence, does not mean it was constructed on the correct boundary line.

  • Ensure your new fence meet any approvals required or certificates of compliance.
